Now:
A train leaves Eastville bound for Westville at 60 miles an hour. Another train leaves Westville bound for Eastville 10 minutes later traveling at 50 miles per hour. Given that it is 110 miles in between the two Canadian cities, how far apart will the two trains be when they meet? And if a woman is riding the Eastville-bound train reading a copy of PRANK THE MONKEY, idly adding up the number from the previous question to all the numbers found on page 83, then adding the ISBN-10 number, then subtracting the price of the book, as people often do when they're riding trains, what would that number be?
Now let's say the Eastville-bound train slows to a stop at mile 10. The conductor comes through the train, apologizing for the delay. "Sorry, folks," he says. "Unfortunately, there's a hobo on the tracks."
"My goodness, a hobo?" exclaims the woman. "How old is he?"
"One-half of the hobo's age two years from now plus one-third of his age three years ago is twenty years," responds the conductor, helpfully.
The woman adds this number to her previous number, multiplies by 10, then writes the resulting sum on a piece of paper. Then she adds 578,058,889.23, which we'd probably all do under the circumstances. Then she dials the resulting number into her cellphone, because she is insane.
The train starts back up, the hobo screams, and Mary solves the secret message.
