Sounds like Verizon. If they get your SSN# wrong on your customer info, you can\'t cancel the service. Oh, first post... I think

Around here (Ohio), the cable company actually has a metal drop box, like a library, that you just dump your equipment into. Ours is behind a Taco Bell.

A metal drop box behind a Taco Bell? Someone should tell MaxWattage that he\'s been putting his leased cable hardware in a dumpster.

I am with Charter, and they not only tell you exactly where you can drop off/pick up equipment, they even helped my pregnant wife out to the car and carried the equipment for her. Not to mention the technician was an hour early to hook us up. Yes, I am sober, and no I cannot tell yopu why they are so nice...

I had the same exact issue. Nearly impossible location to find, I gave up and mailed it in. They somehow forgot to log that they had received the equipment because I got billed for 2-3 more months following the cancellation of my service. Took a few weeks of calling in for them to find records that they had received my equipment, cancel my account, and refund bills for service I hadn\'t been using.

When I cancelled Comcast + returned their equipment, they told me I would be receiving a check in the mail for the reinbursement of what was left for the month. (which was about $30.) Never arrived. I called them 4 times (was lied to 3 times and told they were sending me \"forms\")+ was finally told that I was billed for the entire month even though I had no service or equipment. Sprint and ATT (I cancelled at the same time) sent checks right away. I will NEVER do business with Comcast again!

We moved states (to Florida, which didn\'t have Comcast at the time) and couldn\'t figure out how to give Comcast their cable modem back. They said they\'d pick it up -- they didn\'t. My brother offered to drop it off -- they told him it had to be mailed. He FedExed it with delivery confirmation -- they started sending us collection notices because they\'d never picked it up.

Every time I\'ve ever dealt with Comcast, I came out of it with a sore anus. Dish Network is only marginally better, but offers no internet in our area, so in comes the other reason my ass hurts - Verizon. Doesn\'t matter what you\'re calling about, you\'re getting transfered to India.

In Chicago, the Comcast return is easy enough to find, but presents a hellish, eerily DMV-like experience. I stood in line for an hour and a half one Saturday morning just to return my cable box!

I work for Comcast and I have never had a problem with their services. I also don\'t believe the two have any connection whatsoever. Not one bit. Not even a smidgen.

Comcast will send you priority mail prepaid envelopes to return your equipment in. They charged me $10 for this (twice actually), but it saved me from having to find wherever they\'ve hidden their office in central Illinois.

About a year after leaving Comcast and dropping their box off at their \"convenient\" dropoff center in Tacoma, they sent me a bill for $300 for the box I \"never returned\" Luckily, I never throw away receipts, and promptly emailed them a copy. Didn\'t even get an apology...

I am dumping comcast, they have been over charging me over $50 every month with no reason. then it takes 6 hours a month to clear it up. how many people are not checking the bill, and they are getting free money? bring back the rabbit ears

Comcast took over the cable service in my small town from another company and as soon as I found out about them doing it, I cringed. First I couldn\'t pay my bill because they were in the middle of the switchover then they sent me 3 bills in a week for a total of over $250. I immediately called Directv and then it took me over a week of sitting on hold to get Comcast to cancel the service. After cancelling, I got a collection call.

Continued from before. I told them when they called that I had cancelled their crappy service already. Then about a week later, a contractor showed up at the house to disconnect me and take the box (which I had already returned). I did not go off on him because he was merely a contractor, but he did tell me that he had heard my same story time and time again all over town. Never, never, never again for Comcast. Horrible company!

My dad returned equipment to Comcast after they said they would send someone out to pick it up. When he returned the equipment, the woman at the desk told him that he did the smart things, seeming to imply that Comcast never intended on sending anybody out.
