I too have a 'circuit', which I began today, and now here I am! I usually check out my email on Hotmail first, but after that I visit Cockeyed.com to see what kind of crazy stuff you're up to. Then I visit The Sneeze to see if Steve has eaten anything new, then it's off to visit my friend's son's site to help him get his counter up, then I jump over to Ebay to check out how my bids are faring. I usually meander over to Snopes and Rotten.com to read some crazy news too. Finally, I end up at Pogo.com playing games since I'm an A+ procrastinator! There's my internet circuit! 1. Gmail 2. Ehow of the day 15. The Dilbert Blog 16. Supersizedmeals.com 17. Revolutionfanboy.com It's a very long circuit. Takes me about an hour. I check my email to see if I have something from my husband who is deployed. Then I go to www.wetcanvas.com where I ususally have a few threads to follow up on. This can take me a lot longer than I intend. Then if I don't feel too guilty about not getting around to what I'm supposed to be doing, I will check out cockeyed, maybe www.homestarrunner.com, maybe the sneeze, maybe www.ashersarlin.com (though I don't know why, more out of morbid curiosity than the fact that I actually enjoy his cartoons). webmail, my blog to see comments, Dear Abby, Slashdot, Yahoo comics, Yahoo NHL, Jeopardy archive, Homestarrunner (on Mondays), H*R wiki (on Mondays), Cockeyed, friends blogs So nice of you to ask! My circuit was a lot more extensive last year, before I discovered the awesomeness of the RSS Feeds. Now I just open my opera and only browse the sites that have been updated recently (for example http://bash.org/ http://blog.outer-court.com http://kirai.bitacoras.com/ and the fine lady at http://www.dooce.com to mention a few). Then I "manually" check Cockeyed (I don't now if you have RSS feeds), check my e-mail accounts (spam, spam...), read a few stories at http://www.fanfiction.net/ and then I go to my forums to post and moderate. That takes me at least 2 hours everyday and I really like my routine. Ok, that's all. Take care and keep up the great job with this site. Bye bye! round the couch and off to bed! 1 Email . . Is it a circuit if it follows no particular order? flickr.com, rockclimbing.com, cockeyed.com (of course), suicidegirls.com, cnn.com. Less frequent: gamespot.com, netflix.com, snopes.com, metacritic.com. First I check the new messages at Healthboards.com to see if anybody has posted any really crazy medical problems recently. Next I read the Michigan State University newspaper at www.statenews.com. Of course I have to check my three e-mail accounts 20 times a day. I usually stop by snopes.com to see what's new there. If I really want to procrastinate, I'll check out the police blotter at www.dpps.msu.edu to see what kinds of exciting criminal acts have been committed in the past few days. Then I check out the blood drive schedule at www.givelife.com, and count down the days until I get to go see the vampires at the Red Cross again. Oh, and of course, I stop by www.cockeyed.com to see if Rob has posted anything new lately. Daily: Digg.com, gmail.com, cnn.com, boingboing.net, tv.yahoo.com/grid/? Weekly: Cockeyed.com, engadget.com, hackaday.com, makezine.com/blog/ All other sites (that I have bookmarked) are accessed on a more random (when I'm thinking about it) basis. These include blogs, forums and photo posting sites. A note: (I use Safari, but) the web browser Opera has a feature called sessions. This allows a user to save a set of web pages, which can be brought up when the browser is started (or other times). I figured you might be interested in this, as many Opera users refer to your (properly named) Internet Circuit as the (cockeyed-ily named) 'Sessions'. (Sessions were originally just to remember ones windows, their placement, and the history - before a browser was exited). 1. Web e-mail 2. Yahoo! News 3. IMDB 4. MySpace 5. Snopes 6. FU-Berlin mail 4. mersenne prime page 5. yahoo mail 2nd account 6. cnn.com After about 3 hours or so of that, I finally get down to doing some damn work. 1. I usually start by clicking on the "live bookmark" I have for bbc news. Which is mostly just a built-in rss thing for firefox. I middle click and so open all 30 or so stories at once, in tabs, and skim through them. 2. I do pretty much the exact same thing again with a set of webcomic bookmarks that I won't bother listing, but they're essentially www.qwantz.com and nearly everything qwantz.com links to. Which is how you got bookmarked, I suppose! 3. Then I probably hit netflix for a few minutes to try and remember/queue that movie I thought of the night before or during work. 4. I have a bit of tivo-ish pvr software running on my computer, recording television shows, and running a webserver to let me remote control it. So I check in on the site it's making through firefox in a not very remote fashion. But it's a bookmark and I obsessively check it to make sure it didn't crash or to see if I shouldn't try and play xbox while it's recording mythbusters. 5. After that the pattern gets a little looser since not everyone updates every day and I may get around to actually clicking your bookmark or i-mockery.com or superdickery.com. 6. I also find myself ordering far too much online from ebay and newegg and amazon, and so usually take a moment to check my email for the tracking number for the pointless thing I'm getting that week. I then check out how stuck in Maryland it is via ups.com. 1. I check my Livejournal friends page and my comments. 2. I go on Neopets and play some games. 3. I check my favourite blogs (too numerous to list) (On Sundays I check PostSecret) (On Mondays I check Homestar Runner) 4. Whilst multitaskting on that, I either check up on comics ("Shortpacked!" "It's Walky!" "Better Days" "For Better or for Worse") wander into cockeyed.com, visit superdickery.com, check the news on ytmnd.com, or simply look up random crap on Wikipedia. 1. I open Firefox and start 2 tabs. The first I let go to collegehumor.com and i check hot links and pics, the other I go to my various email addresses. When I'm done with collegehumor I got o my local paper's site, then rotten.com/today then dailyrotten. Then I check cockeyed, the sneeze, the bunny blog, and finally I check alldumb.com. Thanks for the update :0) I honestly didn't think I had an internet circuit until you mentioned it. Then I started paying attention to where I was going online. I'm on deployment right now, so I'm not as active as I used to be online (the ship operates off a satelite connection-very slow). These are the sites that I try to visit on a regular basis, though. 1) www.capmag.com 2) www.randi.org 3) www.snopes.com 4) www.cockeyed.com (of course!) When I've got a reliable connection, I'll usually visit www.civfanatics.com (I play Civilization 4 a lot!). 1. (my) My space (Kenneth Erstad) 2. Yahoo Chat (with wife while I am deployed) 3. Cockeyed.com (Got the T-shirt!) 4. How Stuff Works 5. Post Secret (weekly) 6. Mighty Girl 7. Defective Yeti 8. Ask a Scientist 9. Pal Talk 10. Diego Garcia (sometimes) 11. Z Filter (sometimes) 12. Ebaums World (sometimes) 13. Sporkle Games (sometimes) 14. Sarah's Chainmail connection (sometimes) Well, first thing in the morning, still wet from the shower, I check my mail, all three acounts. I begin with gmail account #1, which receives bills and email from old friends. I make plans to send lengthy relpies to my friends later in the day, and I write due dates for bills on my calendar. Then, I check gmail account #2, which receives mail having to do with the university, classes, committees, my job and from new friends. I label and respond to these immediately. Lastly, I check my abandoned yahoo account. I delete all of the junk mail, file anything from amazon.com, and forward my new gmail address to anyone I still care to hear from. After the ritual checking of the mail, I dress and grab a bowl of cereal. While eating breakfast, I check my webcomics. In this order: 1. somethingpositive.com 2. userfriendly.org 3. penny-arcade.com (even on Tues/Thurs., b/c they might post news updates.) 4. pennyandaggie.com (except on Wednesday) 5. questionablecontent.net 6. qwantz.com 7. thenoobcomic.com Then, if I've received a notice of an update, I read my friend's, Casey's, blog @ , and kristyvsthezombiearmy.com. Oh, and sometimes, when I'm at work and have access to a 17 inch hi-def screen, I read machall.com. The art there is wonderful, but it's only updated every other week, and sometimes not that often. On the weekends I pretty much do the same thing, eventhough the only comic that updates on Sat/Sun. is userfriendly. What can I say? I'm compulsive. The circuit: I thought evreybody had one. -SB, saraseay@gmail.com Dilbert.com for Dilbert and for Pearls before Swine (each with a laugh ratio of about two per week) Thesneesze.com and cockeyed.com (much higher laugh rate per posting than the cartoons) NME.com for the latest top-notch (and indeed mediocre) music news Guardian.co.uk for news and sport. In the mornings I start off with easy stuff on the brain, light reading usually about crap, I visit the following: www.thesuperficial.com www.wwtdd.com www.defamer.com I then check: www.fark.com www.dumpalink.com www.break.com www.ilovebacon.com After this I usually “work” for a few hours on actual stuff related to my job. About an hour before lunch I check the “boards” at: www.alpha.cx www.wizards.com www.pointlesswasteoftime.com and a few other gaming and comic sites I don’t remember right now. Then I check out Facebook to see if anything new and fun is happening with my friends and their profiles. Next I go to Livejournal to see if anyone has posted any good entries. After this, it really depends on the mood. Sometimes it's myspace, sometimes the news, sometimes just random Google searches. I check my primary gmail account. Then I check my spam-filled hotmail account. I read up on my Livejournal comments and check out my friends' journals. Then I peruse my webcomics: I read Penny Arcade, Questionable Content, and Scary-go-Round. Then I check on The Sneeze and Cockeyed. After that I hit Google News. If I still have time to kill I'll read the comic Diesel Sweeties or waste some time on Addicting Games. Good times! 1. I check wikipedia for halidays and news. 2. Then my friend's livejournals and myspaces. 3. Next is Cockeyed, The Sneeze, snopes.com and Homestarruner. This is my favorite part. 4. Then I move onto my giant list of webcomics.
