There are superheros in this world.
I'm not just talking about comic book superheros, or sports superheros. And I don't want to discount the heroics of police officers or firefighters or the brave fighters in armed conflict around the world.
There are superheros in this world who fight for people's lives, to cure disease, end suffering, and to bring good health to millions and millions of people.
Barry Marshall is such a superhero. He is a man who studied a disease, explored its effects, identified its cause and found a cure.
What did Barry Marshall cure?
In 1982, Dr. Marshall and his collegue Dr. Robin Warren studied biopsies from a ton of patients. They identified a curious and tiny new culprit, suspiciously adjacent to inflammation inside the stomach: It was a bacteria called Helicobacter pylori.
