They had understated the clearance by more than two feet.

I suppose this tactic was supposed to protect their structure from  damage, sort of like my "Experimental Eggshell Car - Do Not Collide" bumper sticker.

Next, I checked the clearance warning bar in front of this Chevron car wash. It was marked MAX CLEARANCE 7 - 1".
