Box vs. Refrigerator Melt-Off!

After two hours in the fridge, the ice was still as hard as a rock, and after six hours, it was still in great shape, with just a little water surrounding the block of ice.

I didn't want to bust open the cardboard box to check it's progress, so I decided to wait until the next morning.

On Sunday morning, after 17 hours, the refrigerator ice was floating in a half-inch of water.

There was no way the cardboard box ice could be doing this well!

I cut open the box.

The box ice was completely melted.

The box had been utterly beaten. Unfortunately, I didn't know how long the box ice had lasted. I hadn't rigged a way to check the ice within the closed box.

The ice in the refrigerator lasted for three days.

At the end of the experiment, it was still ice-cold, but it tasted really lousy.

Thank you!
